Biography
An art pop duo based in Montreal, She-Devils fuse hazy pastiche drawn from 1960s girl groups with gritty textures lifted from vinyl sources, shaping these elements into broken, uneasy swells of indie rock that suggest the off-kilter imagination associated with David Lynch. Audrey Ann Boucher and Kyle Jukka launched the project in 2014 after meeting five years earlier as roommates inside a communal rehearsal space. The pair’s knotty, irreverent, and atmospheric work has invited comparisons to Dirty Beaches, U.S. Girls, Best Coast, and Majical Clouds. Early in 2016 they released their self-titled EP on their own; the next year they joined Secretly Canadian, which issued their likewise self-titled debut album.
