An energetic Detroit funk ensemble found their abundant zeal insufficient to generate any chart breakthroughs. Trumpeter Richard Sebastian, saxophonist Greg Ingram, keyboardist and lead guitarist Billy Talbert, guitarist Ernest Latimore, bassist Larry Austin, drummer and vocalist Tyrone Steels, and percussionist Leslie Carter produced spirited tracks that echoed the finest work of Ohio Players, Slave, and Cameo, yet the sought-after hit single remained out of reach. The group also shared bills with Rick James on the road while cutting sides for ABC, MCA, and Montage across the late ’70s and early ’80s.
