Biography
Shortly after relocating to New York City, Pete Cafarella on keyboards and vocals joined forces with drummer Nate Smith—both previously of El Guapo—to launch Shy Child. Cafarella had earlier collaborated with composer Anthony Braxton, while Smith had supplied drums for Touchdown on Troubleman Records. The duo’s debut album, Please Consider Our Time, received its official release on Montreal’s Grenadine Records in 2002, followed by the Humanity EP in late 2003. Following a brief tour of Japan in early 2004, Shy Child tracked One With the Sun with producer Chris Zane of Les Savy Fav and Calla before issuing the record on Say Hey Records in October 2004.
