Formed in 1982 by guitarist Andy Simmons, this UK melodic hard rock quintet assembled a lineup completed by vocalist Tony Mason, multi-instrumentalist Ross Bingham on guitar and keyboards, bassist Geoff Gilesoie and drummer Kevin Baker. They stood out as one of the rare acts on the Belgian Mausoleum label that steered clear of speed metal and thrash. Taking cues from Magnum, Rush and Grand Prix, the group issued a self-titled debut album in 1985 filled with sweeping epics interrupted here and there by fiery guitar passages. Mason’s singing, however, fell short in warmth and range, preventing the material from achieving genuine individuality. Poor sales followed, after which the band largely vanished from view. This ensemble should not be mistaken for the Manchester, England-based duo that later appeared on Heavenly Records.
