Biography
Sorcha Richardson, a musician from Dublin, Ireland, fuses atmospheric electronic production with the introspective style of a singer/songwriter. She formed her first band alongside friends when she was ten. At eighteen she moved to Brooklyn’s expansive music community in New York, where she independently issued her debut EP, Sleep Will Set Me Free, in 2012. Crosswalk Records released the follow-up, Last Train, the next year. Issued in mid-2015, the song “Petrol Station” drew her greatest notice to date and prompted her first sold-out Dublin concert. While remaining active in New York’s music circles, locating compatible collaborators, and staging shows to shape new material, she continued to distribute her recordings online. In mid-2016 Richardson created a website that included her handwritten messages to listeners. Later that year she issued the singles “Walk Away” and “Lost,” then “4AM” and “Walking Life” in 2017; around the same time she relocated her base to Ireland after securing headline tour dates there and a support slot with fellow Irish artist Imelda May. Extending her shift toward more expansive arrangements, she released “Can't We Pretend” in 2018.
