Biography
Star of Ash serves as a side project for the Norwegian vocalist Heidi S. Tveitan, also known as Ihriel from the band Peccatum and married to Ihsahn of Emperor. Drawing support from numerous associates in the regional experimental music community, the project's first full-length album, Iter.Viator, appeared in spring 2002 on Jester Records before receiving a worldwide reissue through The End Records. In contrast to the predominant output of those associated figures, Star of Ash largely avoids metal in favor of atmospheric gothic textures built on comparatively delicate arrangements reminiscent of Dead Can Dance and Bel Canto.
