From an early age Stuart Jones displayed a deep fascination with sound, absorbing classical, jazz, and pop recordings that later informed the breadth of his output. Those varied influences surface across his film and television scores, which continue to air on numerous U.K. broadcasts. Within dance-music circles he has earned consistent respect, supplying tracks to numerous drum’n’bass, house, and trance anthologies that also feature DJ Luck and the Artful Dodger. Recognition has come chiefly, however, from his new-age work. Jones first appeared on the New World Music roster in 1995 with the album Love Eternal. The label, devoted to relaxation and meditation repertoire, maintains a prominent position in that field. By blending new-age sensibilities with dance rhythms, Jones achieved one of the imprint’s strongest commercial successes with the 1998 release Lifeforce. His soft-jazz recording Late into the Night further illustrated his range and expressive touch, expanding his listenership considerably. Follow-up projects Lazy Days, which includes vocalist Sarah Jane, and Pure Calm have positioned him among the genre’s most forward-thinking figures. Jones sustains an active concert calendar that spans both concert halls and club venues.
