Biography
Hailing from Berlin, the German heavy-psych collective Suns of Thyme weaves together space rock, blues-infused prog-rock, shoegaze, and post-punk textures. Drawing on an eclectic array of touchstones such as Hawkwind, Velvet Underground, Sisters of Mercy, Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd, and the Cure, the ensemble coalesced in 2011 through the combined efforts of Tammo Dehn on synths, percussion, and sampler, Tobias Feltes delivering vocals, guitar, and sitar, Tim Hoppe handling guitar, Jascha Kreft supplying drums and vocals, and Jens Rosenkranz anchoring bass. Their independent debut album, Fortune Shelter Love, surfaced in 2013. The record attracted Napalm Records, which inked the band the subsequent year. Cascades, Suns of Thyme’s second studio album and their inaugural release for the label, arrived in June 2016.
