New Jersey vocalist Sybil ranks among the strongest talents in the disco diva tradition, having edged near mainstream pop success without securing it. Early on she collaborated with Ce Ce Rogers under the Ce Ce & Company banner, then moved to Next Plateau for her recording contract. While club listeners embraced her output, R&B audiences proved slower to connect with the poised, technically assured style of her performances. Among her releases, the 1989 cover of "Don't Make Me Over" drew the widest audience approval. None of her remaining tracks, however, entered the R&B Top 40. In 1990 she aligned with the Stock, Aitken & Waterman production team, leading to the prompt release of the single "Make It Easy on Me." Three years later she issued the album Doin' It Now on Next Plateau.
