David Sztanke, operating under the Tahiti Boy moniker as a Parisian indie pop provocateur, abandoned his coursework in France to pursue music studies at Juilliard, the acclaimed performing arts conservatory in New York City. While enrolled there, he assembled the core of his shape-shifting retro-pop project Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree Family, a fluid ensemble that converts psych-inflected seventies melodies into fresh indie pop creations. The outfit issued its first album, Good Children Go to Heaven, in 2008; the 1973 EP followed in 2009 and included guest turns from Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio and Xavier de Rosnay of Justice.
