Biography
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Mark Wolfe earned recognition in dancehall as the witty deejay Tanto Metro, a stage name that originated from his early ties to the Metromedia sound system. Long before his first solo album appeared, he issued a steady stream of singles beginning in the mid-'80s on imprints such as Shelter Rock, Dennis Star, and especially Shocking Vibes. His debut LP, Ratings, arrived via VP in 1995 and included guest spots by Beenie Man, Little Lenny, and Bajie Man. Wolfe later joined forces with vocalist Wayne Passley, a King Jammy associate also known as Devonte, forming the duo Tanto Metro & Devonte. The pair delivered the albums Everyone Falls in Love (1999), The Beat Goes On (2001), Musically Inclined (2006), and Most Wanted (2009), yet concentrated far more on singles through the mid-2010s.
