Tanto Metro & Devonte

In the closing years of the 1990s, dancehall deejay Tanto Metro (Mark Wolfe) formed an enduring partnership with singer Devonte (Wayne Passley). Prior to their work as a duo, the Kingston, Jamaica natives had each built separate careers; Tanto Metro already counted numerous singles on imprints such as Shelter Rock and Shocking Vibes, along with the solo album Ratings issued in 1995. Devonte likewise placed singles through Shocking Vibes and additional labels. Their first major joint success arrived in 1997 with the track “Everyone Falls in Love,” which was followed two years later by an album of the same name. Later full-length projects appeared at irregular intervals—The Beat Goes On (2001), Musically Inclined (2006), and Most Wanted (2009)—yet the pair remained steadily active releasing singles through the mid-2010s.
