Biography
Tara Nevins, a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, launched her professional path as a member of the folk-rock ensemble Donna the Buffalo. Serving as one of its chief vocalists and composers, she refined a rich, mellow vocal delivery and lyrics focused on social themes throughout the band’s five albums. Her acoustic guitar, accordion, and fiddle work further lent Donna the Buffalo a varied, rustic character. Even while the group’s relentless touring and recording commitments occupied most of her schedule, Nevins still found room to complete a solo debut. That effort, the 1999 release Mule to Ride, highlighted the grounded singing and instrumental style that earned her respect in folk-rock circles.
