Temperance

The Toronto-based trio first put out a recording called Virtues of Life in 1995. For the balance of the decade the group toured extensively in Canada as well as Europe, North America, Asia and sections of Africa, collecting repeated Juno nominations and Canadian video awards for the inventive, engaging dance music they created. Born in Toronto in 1977, vocalist Lorraine Reid first sang publicly during a Parents' Night event at her elementary school when she was four. Alongside her vocal work she pursued studies in Linguistics and Psychology at York University in Toronto. Also born in Toronto, Nick Fiorucci launched his DJ career in the mid-1980s and established his own record label in 1990. By the late 1990s he ranked among the dance field’s most in-demand mixers, producers and composers, working alongside an extensive roster of musical artists. Curtnail Anthony “Mystah” Munroe arrived in Canada with his family at the age of eleven. His abilities as a dancer developed further in high school through appearances in many school productions and competitions, which in time opened doors to music-video work. Proficiency in songwriting and rapping made him a sought-after contributor of rap verses and lyrics for fellow Toronto-area artists. Under Attic Records’ Hi Bias imprint, Temperance delivered their second album, If You Don't Know, in early 1999.
