Helsinki stands as home base for Battle Beast, a unit devoted to unrestrained, head-on vintage European power metal. The group surfaced at the start of the 2010s and claimed the top spot on domestic charts in 2015 via its third full-length release, Unholy Savior, before sustaining momentum at home and overseas through later works including Bringer of Pain (2017) and Circus of Doom (2022).

Battle Beast first assembled in 2008 and navigated several personnel shifts before locking in guitarists Anton Kabanen and Juuso Soinio, drummer Pyry Vikki, bassist Eero Sipilä, keyboardist Janne Björkroth, and commanding lead singer Nitte Valo. A contract with Finnish imprint Hype Records arrived in 2010, followed by the 2011 debut album Steel. Strong regional reception drew the attention of Nuclear Blast, which handled an international reissue of the record in 2012. Following a European run supporting Nightwish, Valo exited for family-related reasons. Noora Louhimo stepped in as replacement vocalist in time for joint dates with fellow Finnish power metal outfit Sonata Arctica, after which the band entered the studio in 2013 for its second album. The self-titled Battle Beast reached number five on the Finnish album charts.

Third studio effort Unholy Savior landed in January 2015 and debuted at number one in Finland. Guitarist Anton Kabanen departed later that year; keyboardist Janne Björkroth’s brother Joona Björkroth took his place in 2016. The quartet delivered fourth album Bringer of Pain the next year and launched its inaugural North American trek alongside Sabaton and Leaves’ Eyes. After a worldwide itinerary that included Japanese shows, the members reconvened to track a fifth release. With Janne Björkroth handling production duties, No More Hollywood Endings emerged in early 2019 and again topped the Finnish charts. Nuclear Blast signed the band in 2021, setting the stage for sixth album Circus of Doom in 2022.
