Biography
Stockholm's Dynazty surfaced in 2007 as a Swedish melodic hard rock and metal collective skilled at merging the structural foundations of classic NWOBHM with the scale and intricacy of European power and progressive metal. Guitarists Love Magnusson and John Berg formed the initial lineup, which later grew into a quintet once drummer Georg Härnsten Egg, bassist Joel Fox Apelgren, and vocalist Nils Molin joined the fold. The band's debut album, Bring the Thunder, appeared in 2009, yet wider notice arrived with the 2011 release Knock You Down and the follow-up Sultans of Sin in 2012, the latter arriving while the group made a strong but ultimately unsuccessful bid at Melodifestivalen, Sweden's yearly contest to select its Eurovision entry. Dynazty signed with Spinefarm Records ahead of its fourth album, Renatus, issued in 2013; that record tilted further toward power metal and featured a revised roster after John Berg stepped aside for guitarist Mikael Lavér and Jonathan Olsson assumed bass duties in place of Joel Fox Apelgren. Three years afterward the ensemble delivered Titanic Mass, an effort that incorporated symphonic textures, before moving to AFM Records for its sixth studio album, the 2018 release Firesign.
