In Stockholm, Sweden, the melodic hard rock and glam metal band Treat rose to prominence during the 1980s with substantial success both locally and abroad, driven by the singles "Get You on the Run," "World of Promises," "Party All Over," and "Ready for the Taking." The group originated in 1981 as the Boys before formally adopting the name Treat in 1983 following its signing with Mercury Records. Influenced by Kiss, Whitesnake, Van Halen, and Journey, Treat entered the pop-metal mainstream alongside contemporary stars via the debut album Scratch and Bite. Its 1985 follow-up, Pleasure Principle, struggled against the backdrop of Europe's worldwide breakthrough with The Final Countdown. Dreamhunter arrived in 1987 to stronger results, highlighted by the single "World of Promises," later covered by In Flames on the 2000 album Clayman, and it earned the band a spot on the 1988 Monsters of Rock Tour. The underwhelming Organized Crime in 1989 coincided with multiple personnel adjustments, and after the self-titled fifth album emerged in 1992 amid grunge's erosion of the hard rock landscape, Treat disbanded. Strong sales of the 2005 compilation Weapons of Choice paved the way for a reunion, which produced the 2010 comeback release Coup de Grace. Treat's seventh studio album, the Frontiers-issued Ghost of Graceland, appeared in early 2016.
