The A-Sides

The A-Sides, a pop outfit based in Philadelphia, came together in 2002. Their debut 7" single, issued on Scranton, PA's Prison Jazz Records, was subsequently licensed by Rough Trade in the U.K., generating favorable coverage throughout the United States. Producer Brian McTear, whose prior credits include matt pond PA and Mazarin, soon became involved and oversaw the band's inaugural full-length, Hello, Hello, an album that further expanded the A-Sides' eclectic pop approach when it appeared in 2005. With Jon Barthmus (vocals/guitar/keys), Mike Flemming (bass/vocals), Patrick Marsceill (drums/vocals), Charlie Cottone (guitar/vocals), and Christopher Doyle (keys/guitar/percussion) now established as the core lineup, the group steadily broadened its radio airplay and live schedule. Vagrant Records put out the band's second album, Silver Storms, in 2007.
