Biography
Ilse DeLange and Waylon established the Common Linnets in 2013 to represent the Netherlands at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, simultaneously creating an outlet for emerging Dutch artists working in country and Americana styles. The duo first performed their contest song “Calm After the Storm” during a March 2014 appearance on the Dutch television program De Wereld Draait Door, with the single issued on the same day and quickly entering the top ten in multiple European territories. Their self-titled debut album arrived to coincide with the Copenhagen contest, where they placed second behind the betting favorite Conchita Wurst. Strong chart results then led the pair to schedule a promotional tour throughout Europe.
