Biography
The Flys, a Hollywood rock outfit, originated in casual jam sessions among bassist James Book, guitarist Peter Perdichizzi, vocalist Adam Paskowitz, and drummer Nicky Lucero. Joshua Paskowitz later joined as an additional singer and rapper, after which the group secured a deal with Trauma Records. Their sound fused alt-rock and post-grunge with retro textures, yielding a far more distinctive direction than most late-'90s alternative acts. Before the August 1998 arrival of their debut album Holiday Man, the band placed a track on the Disturbing Behavior soundtrack and performed at the Bethel/Woodstock grounds for the A Day at the Garden concert. Spring 2000 brought their follow-up, Outta My Way, which contained the hit single "Losin' It," though the ensemble entered indefinite hiatus by 2002.
