Emerging from Portland, Maine, the Ghost of Paul Revere deliver Americana that fuses folk-rooted passion with rock & roll’s defiant drive. Acoustic instrumentation anchors their sound, bolstered by robust vocal harmonies, while their material draws from regional heritage, intimate bonds, and conceptual themes. National attention first arrived via the 2013 debut Believe, followed by wider acclaim and sales for 2017’s Monarch.

Three longtime friends launched the band in 2011: Griffin Sherry handling guitar and vocals, Max Davis on banjo and vocals, and Sean McCarthy covering bass and vocals. Once they had spent a year performing regularly, the trio expanded by recruiting Matt Baker on mandolin and Matt Young on mandolin and harmonica. This five-piece lineup cut the six-track EP North, issued independently in 2012. By the time they tracked their first full-length, Believe, in 2013, Matt Young had exited, reducing the group to a quartet. Streaming momentum built quickly around “After Many Miles” and “San Antone,” each surpassing two million plays. In 2014 the band inaugurated Ghostland, an annual festival honoring Maine’s musical scene.

Two live-oriented releases appeared in 2015: the rarities collection Field Notes, Vol. 1 and the digital-only The Summer Knight Series. Pianist and drummer Tony McNaboe participated in the sessions for Monarch, an album that reflected greater maturity and scope. He later toured on drums, while Ben Cosgrove joined on piano and accordion; both contributed to Field Notes, Vol. 2, released in 2019. The 2020 album Good at Losing Everything marked the Ghost of Paul Revere’s most refined recording to date, featuring the core of Sherry, Davis, and McCarthy alongside Cosgrove, drummer Chuck Gagne, and multi-instrumentalist Jackson Kincheloe.
