Biography
New Regime amounts to the work of a solitary multi-instrumentalist, Ilan Rubin. Rubin first sat behind a drum kit at eight and, a year later, was already performing with the group F.o.N. while logging multiple appearances on the Vans Warped Tour circuit. Well before adolescence he had also mastered guitar and piano. His next move took him into Denver Harbor, the band that issued its lone album, Scenic, in 2004 and then dissolved. From there Rubin linked up with the Welsh outfit Lostprophets. In tandem he began recording an independent set of songs on which he handled every vocal and instrumental part; the finished collection, Coup, appeared in 2008 under the New Regime banner. Later that year he stepped in for Josh Freese behind the drum kit for Nine Inch Nails.
