During the 1970s the Chicago soul outfit the Notations cut sides for Twinight as well as Gemigo, the Curtom subsidiary. Their strongest chart showing came with the Top 30 R&B singles “I’m Still Here” and “It Only Hurts for a Little While,” two songs centered on romantic distress. Clifford Curry, LaSalle Matthews, Bobby Thomas, and Jimmy Stroud made up the original roster. Walter Jones stepped in for Stroud in 1973 and stayed until 1976, yet still played on the self-titled Gemigo album issued that same year. The Notations kept up sporadic studio work and live appearances thereafter. Numero later gathered their earliest material on the anthologies Twinight’s Lunar Rotation (2007) and Still Here: 1967-1973 (2015).
