The Nylons inked a deal with Attic Records in 1981, only two years after the group had come together in Toronto. Denis Simpson, Paul Cooper, Marc Connors and Claude Morrison made up the original lineup, yet Simpson departed shortly afterward. Ralph Cole stepped in to fill the vacancy for one year, after which Arnold Robinson took Cole’s place in 1980. The a cappella ensemble issued both its self-titled debut and One Size Fits All in 1982. Following the 1984 release Seamless, the Nylons reached the Top 30 via a cover of Steam’s “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.” The project housing that track, Happy Together, likewise performed strongly. After 1989’s Rockapella, Paul Cooper exited the quartet and Micah Barnes came aboard. Four on the Floor arrived in 1991, the same year Mark Connors passed away. Billy Newton-Davis, already an established solo performer through Love Is a Contact Sport and Spellbound, joined the Nylons in time for the 1992 album Live to Love. Run For Cover surfaced in 1996, with Wish For You appearing four years afterward.
