Biography
Forming in Seattle during 2000, the Purrs emerged when Jima on vocals and bass, Craig Keller behind the drums, along with guitarists Jason Milne and Jason Atkin answered an identical classified advertisement. This quartet, rooted in alternative rock, spent the following years refining a sound drawn from post-punk while establishing themselves as regulars across the Pacific Northwest's live venues. Their first EP, titled No Particular Bar, No Particular Town, came out in 2004. Radio station KEXP embraced the group's jangly rock approach soon after, placing the independently released full-length album The Dreams Our Stuff Is Made Of from 2005 into frequent airplay. The subsequent year saw two tracks from that EP alongside seven from the album undergo remixing and remastering, resulting in a self-titled LP issued by Sarathan.
