Biography
Australian indie pop duo Them Swoops first surfaced in 2012 once a demo of the single "Work Around It" secured airplay on Triple J and secured victory in the station’s Unearthed Fuse Festival competition. What began as a studio-only endeavor for Dave McGann and Chris Goff quickly evolved into live performances, with the pair supporting Birds of Tokyo and the Maccabees on tour. Their next release, the single "Too Fast for Love," appeared in early 2013 and received comparable Triple J exposure while also reaching American listeners through Sirius XM’s Alt Nation. In 2014 the group signed with New York label +1 Records and issued their debut EP, Glimmers, whose bright, melodic character recalled the work of pop-minded bands such as Phoenix and Foster the People. Early 2016 saw the arrival of two further singles, "Alright for Me" and "Into the Atmosphere," both signaling a luminous, synth-heavy direction.
