Biography
Thomas Hellman, a French Canadian singer and songwriter, crafts literate music steeped in country, folk, and jazz, shaped by his father’s Texas origins alongside his mother’s French lineage. Long active as a poet and writer with academic ambitions, he cut his first two independently produced albums during studies toward a master’s degree in French literature. The Montreal native delivered his proper debut album, L'Appartement, via Justin Time Records in 2005. Those initial recordings were later combined, remastered, and reissued in 2007 as Departure Songs.
