Biography
Hailing from Texas, Travis Garland belonged to the pop outfit NLT, or Not Like Them, which operated under the guidance of Chris Stokes, known for his work with Immature and B2K. The ensemble partnered with numerous prominent producers and completed an album that ultimately went unreleased. After the group's 2009 breakup, which counted future Glee star Kevin McHale among its ranks, Garland launched his own solo path. During a 2010 appearance on American Idol he delivered his Danja-produced song "Believe." A series of complimentary promotional tracks preceded the September 2013 release of his debut album, Travis Garland, via Stereotypes Music. Across that fourteen-song project Garland moved fluidly among dance-pop, rock, and contemporary R&B.
