Biography
Trillville’s brash and boisterous campaign for the crown of “Gods of Crunk” opened in 1997, when its future members were still ninth-graders navigating Atlanta’s public schools. Dirty Mouth captained the school’s snare-drum line while penning rhymes; Don P rhymed and crafted beats on his keyboard; and Lil LA, also known as Lil Atlanta, worked as an up-and-coming promoter who would soon rap as well. Whenever the trio performed, Lil LA’s advance work filled the venue, and Atlanta’s youth embraced the fresh crunk energy they delivered. As the years passed, Lil LA added his own verses, prompting the crew to adopt the name Trillville—a blend of “truth” and “real.” After catching one of their sold-out shows, Lil Jon arranged their signing to the BME imprint. The single “Neva Eva” began climbing the charts in late 2003, and the full-length King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville arrived in early 2004.
