Southern rap outfit Dem Franchize Boyz comprises Gerald "Buddie" Tiller, Bernard "Jizzal Man" Leverette, Maurice "Parlae" Gleaton, and Jamall "Pimpin" Willingham. The Atlanta quartet issued a series of understated singles and mixtapes before Universal signed them and issued their self-titled debut in September 2004, led by the regional breakout “White Tee” that later gained national visibility through BET. When Jermaine Dupri relocated his So So Def imprint from Arista to Virgin upon becoming president of the label’s urban division, Dem Franchize Boyz ranked among his earliest signings; the group promptly topped the R&B chart with a remix of the album track “Oh I Think Dey Like Me,” now titled “I Think They Like Me” and featuring Dupri alongside Bow Wow and Da Brat. That success paved the way for the Top Ten follow-up On Top of Our Game, which arrived in early 2006. Its next single, “Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It,” confirmed the quartet’s central role in the snap-music wave alongside Ying Yang Twins’ “Wait,” David Banner’s “Play,” and D4L’s “Laffy Taffy.” A screwed-and-chopped edition of the album surfaced shortly afterward.
