Biography
From St. Louis, Jibbs started composing rhymes while still young, hoping to earn notice from his elder sibling DJ Beatz, who was already building a local profile by producing beats for Nelly and Chingy. Those early efforts proved compelling enough that his brother brought him into the studio to cut tracks that quickly caught on around the city. The recordings then traveled beyond St. Louis and reached record executives, leading directly to opportunities for Jibbs to open for major touring acts during their local appearances. He soon secured a deal with Geffen Records, where his first single, “Chain Hang Low,” ranked as the top rap download in August 2006. His debut album, Jibbs Featuring Jibbs, arrived the following October.
