Triola

J. Burger, a central figure in Cologne techno, works under several guises, which explains why certain Triola tracks display the same distinctive melodic lines and countermelodies associated with his Modernist project. He has also recorded alongside Mike Ink, otherwise known as Wolfgang Voigt, under the names Burger/Ink and Sculpture. Two of his Triola pieces first surfaced on compilations during 2001. One appeared on Kompakt’s Pop Ambient 2002 and stands among Burger’s strongest ambient works up to that point, while another featured on Leichtes Hören’s Teil 1 and echoed the style of his Geometric Farms and Modernist output. Kompakt issued the full-length Triola im Fünftonraum toward the end of 2004. The range of approaches across these different projects accounts for his decision to maintain multiple aliases.
