Michaela Dippel, performing under the name Ada in the melodic techno and electro-pop realm, first stepped forward as a vocalist on Metope’s “Livedriver.” Cologne’s Areal label, which had issued that 2002 track, soon pressed her own debut production 12-inch; she followed with a second and third single while also contributing scattered cuts to compilations and split releases. Guest spots on mix albums curated by Triple R, Tyrant, and Erlend Øye broadened her reach, paving the way for her debut album Blondie, which surfaced in late 2004. Covers of Everything But the Girl and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on that record extended her audience beyond typical club listeners. Over the ensuing years she continued issuing occasional 12-inches and remixes, a selection of which Kompakt assembled into the 2009 mix Adaptations: Mixtape #1.
