Biography
Sarah Mariegaard, once part of the Danish hip-hop outfit Flødeklinikken, records as Soleima. She surfaced in 2016 with a sound that merges dreamy indie pop, R&B, and left-field electro-pop laced with psychedelic hues, recalling FKA Twigs, Lykke Li, and fellow Scandinavians Karen Marie Ørsted (aka MØ) and Ellinor Olovsdotter (aka Elliphant).
Operating from Copenhagen, she issued several well-received singles, among them the sugary “My Boi” in 2016, to herald her first EP, No.14, which arrived the next year on Parlophone. “Paper” followed in late 2017, and the bouncy “Low Life” appeared in January 2018 on that year’s Bulldog EP. After leaving Parlophone the subsequent year she signed with Atlantic, and Powerslide—her debut full-length and first project for the major label—landed in 2020.
