Biography
Swedish singer and songwriter Lina Hansson leads the electronic pop outfit Violet Days. Raised in a rural hamlet within a household steeped in melody, she performed traditional Swedish folk tunes together with her siblings while absorbing influences from the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Coldplay, and the Sounds. Her relocation to Stockholm in 2010 signaled the start of a focused effort to build a career in music.
The project, titled after her grandmother Viola, began with a sharper edge; debut single "Razorheart" recalled the pop-rock anthems of Demi Lovato and Kelly Clarkson. Gradually the aesthetic incorporated softer, atmospheric layers centered on synthesizers, a direction illustrated by the introspective 2015 cut "So Dope." That same year brought "Screaming Colors," a forceful merger of the act’s rock roots and its emerging synth palette.
Partnering with Kris Eriksson, Hansson earned her first major success through 2016’s "Your Girl," a release that surpassed five million streams. Delivering vocals and crafting atmospheric soundscapes reminiscent of contemporaries Daya, Halsey, Zara Larsson, and Tove Lo, she followed "Your Girl" with "O.D on You." Alongside various remixes, Violet Days produced a mashup of Michael Jackson’s "Dirty Diana" and Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ "This Is What You Came For." Early 2017 saw the arrival of "Suck at Love."
