Biography
Victoria Beckham, the pop vocalist long identified as Posh Spice, maintains widespread recognition throughout her native United Kingdom through her longstanding role in the Spice Girls, the chart-dominating girl group formed in the 1990s. Born Victoria Adams in Hertfordshire, England, during 1974, she displayed an early passion for music and stage performance, enrolling first at the Jason Theatre School and later at Laine Arts Theatre College. She entered the all-female pop ensemble the Spice Girls in 1994, acquiring the media-bestowed nickname Posh Spice on account of her poised, style-oriented persona. While the group reached peak fame, Adams began a relationship with English footballer David Beckham; the couple wed in 1998 and quickly became tabloid fixtures under the collective label “Posh & Becks.”
