Doran Edwards launched Weird Dreams, initially shaping the effort as a psych-pop duo that later matured into a meditative synth pop vehicle. In 2010, Edwards joined Craig Bowers to establish the group while both held positions at an East London vintage clothing outlet, where they discovered common ground in the Beach Boys, David Lynch, and '60s girl groups. Those shared fascinations guided their early sound toward something dreamy yet strange, pairing reverb-soaked pop melodies carrying dark undertones with crisp, California-infused guitar textures. The two-piece documented and released a self-titled four-track EP on cassette through Bowers’ Sleep All Day Records offshoot Sleepy King Cassettes before adding Hugo Edwards on bass and James Wignall on guitar to complete the four-track EP Hypnagogic Lullaby. Live appearances placed them alongside Women and the Fresh & Onlys, while a split Marshall Teller 7” paired them with Total Slacker. Self-produced and captured by Rory Atwell of Male Bonding and Veronica Falls, the debut album Choreography surfaced via Tough Love in April 2012. Edwards brought Weird Dreams back in 2016 as a solo outlet following his relocation to Paris, where he had composed hundreds of introspective pieces shaped by Broadcast and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Luxury Alone followed in June 2016.
