Biography
Sheela Rahman deploys a collection of analog synthesizers to create lo-fi experimental house and techno under the Xosar moniker. Her output spans dark, grainy free-form jams, playful “surfer house” tracks, and psychic explorations shaped by her interest in the paranormal. Musical influences include Detroit techno, industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle, and black metal. Born in San Jose, California, she pursued neuropsychology studies at college before shifting focus to graphic design and music production. In 2011 she relocated to The Hague, Netherlands, where she shared a house with Danny Wolfers (Legowelt) whose five rooms overflowed with synthesizers. Beginning in 2012 she issued several well-received 12"s as Xosar through labels including L.I.E.S., Rush Hour, and Crème Organization. She also worked with Wolfers under the project names Xamiga and Trackman Lafonte & Bonquiqui. After moving to Berlin in 2014 she kept issuing 12"s while delivering the digital full-length Psychick Justice. In 2015 her debut vinyl LP Let Go appeared on Black Opal; she simultaneously joined Luke Wyatt (Torn Hawk) in the duo Body Tools, launched her Gyrocyre imprint, and issued the digital album Holographic Matrix. Gyrocyre’s inaugural release, the Show Yourself EP, followed in 2016. A self-released album titled Xymeria arrived in 2017, and in 2019 the full-length The Possessor Possesses Nothing came out on Bedouin Records.
