Biography
Formed in London as a quintet, XX Teens draw frequent comparisons to the art-terrorist outfit the Fall, yet they also favor propulsive, danceable rhythms reminiscent of those crafted by !!! and Ratatat. The group initially went by Xerox Teens before opting for their current moniker in a deliberate act of subversion, recognizing the potential for search-engine confusion online. Their first release arrived in 2005 via the Big Billy Records imprint with the track "Round." The same label followed up in 2006 by issuing "Onkawara," a cult favorite that prompted Mute Records to secure the band for its Mute Irregulars subsidiary. Subsequent to the 2007 appearance of "Darlin'," XX Teens transitioned to the main Mute roster, which issued their 2008 single "How to Reduce the Chances of Being a Terror Victim."
