Years

Ryan Parrish, the drummer behind the Washington, D.C.-based death metal/metalcore band Darkest Hour and the screamo group City of Caterpillar, created the dark ambient instrumental side project Years. Drawing on extended, melodic passages and a steady mechanical pulse that mirrors his own rhythmic inclinations, the project foregrounds atmosphere over aggression. In 2008 Parrish issued the split EP Shift in Moods/The Inferno of the Living with Graham Scala (aka Ventoux), founder of the experimental rock outfit Souvenir's Young America, via the Magic Bullet label.
