Drawing from the sonic palette of 1980s post-disco, synth pop, and funk, the irreverent and fun-loving duo Cherub makes its home in Nashville, Tennessee, where Jason Huber and Jordan Kelley handle all duties. The pair first connected during music-production coursework at Middle Tennessee State, then steadily grew an audience through pay-what-you-wish releases, organic word-of-mouth buzz, and repeated stage appearances at Lollapalooza plus the South by Southwest and Bonnaroo festivals. Their initial offerings included the 2011 EP Man of the Hour on Elm & Oak, the 2012 album MoM & DaD also on Elm & Oak, and the self-released EP 100 Bottles in 2013. After inking a deal with major-label Columbia, they dropped Year of the Caprese in 2014, whose nonchalant yet pugnacious single “Doses & Mimosas” rose to number 21 on Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart; Columbia later released Bleed Gold, Piss Excellence in 2016.
