ZO2

The Brooklyn-based trio ZO2 delivers a classic rock vibe that evokes an unbroken extension of the 1970s era, an approach that contrasts sharply with the members' separate professional pursuits. Serving as vocalist and bassist, David Z. also performs with the holiday season staples known as Trans-Siberian Orchestra, whereas his sibling Paulie Z., who handles vocals and guitar, provides recognizable vocals for the parody tunes featured on the Howard Stern program. At the time ZO2 put out their debut record Tuesdays & Thursdays during 2004, the group's drummer Joey Cassata belonged to the performance art ensemble Blue Man Group. Exposure from supporting Kiss on tour brought the act before a wider audience, prompting the IFC network to propose a reality series. The program, which chronicles a rising band's journey, was in production concurrently with the 2007 issuance of Ain't It Beautiful by ZO2.
