Juan Diego Linares operates under the stage name Zulia as a Venezuelan singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He grew up in Maracaibo, where he first picked up the guitar during his teenage years and performed in his high school rock group. Once his family moved to Mexico, Linares started building connections in the Latin music scene by writing and producing tracks for other performers. Before reaching his mid-twenties, he had already collected multiple Latin Grammy awards for contributions to projects by Bad Bunny, Christina Aguilera, and Camilo. At the same time, he quietly issued his own songs under the Zulia name, aiming to shape a distinctly melancholic strain of contemporary Latin pop that steered clear of the usual lyrical and sonic patterns found in urban music. Late 2024 brought his initial major breakthrough via the single “Un Blues,” which featured Danny Ocean and later appeared on Zulia’s first EP, Aviso De Despido.
