Chancho En Piedra

Chancho en Piedra emerged in Chile as a Latin rock outfit during the early 1990s, founded by vocalist Eduardo Ibeas, guitarist Pablo Ilabaca, bassist Felipe Ilabaca, and drummer Leonardo Corvalán. The quartet secured its initial contract in 1995 with the domestic imprint Alerce and issued the album Peor Es Mascar Lauchas, which Gonzalo González helped produce. Shortly afterward the group joined the showcase event El Nuevo Rock Chileno. By 1996 the MTV Latino program Raizonica had spotlighted the band, while rotation began for its clip “Socio.” That November, Chancho en Piedra appeared at the Surf Rock Tour festival before an audience of 50,000. Between March and April of the following year the musicians tracked La Dieta Del Lagarto, after which they performed at Rock al Parque in Colombia. In 1998 the band moved to Sony Music and placed a track on the compilation Copa de la Vida. Ríndanse Terrícolas arrived the same year, and Marca Chancho followed in September 2000.
