Biography
Forming as a Chilean Latin rock quartet, los Tetas launched their recording career with Mama Funk in 1995, as "Corazón de Sandía" and "Hormigas Blancas" rose on domestic rock rankings. Rooted chiefly in 1970s modern funk, the ensemble began extensive Latin American touring after issuing the EP Cha Cha Cha. In 1997 the foursome joined hardcore rap act Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas for shows in Argentina while also releasing La Medicina. The move to the U.S. in 1999 yielded Independiente, which was followed in 2000 by Independiente Edición ll and the EMI-issued greatest hits set Latin Funk All Stars.
