Alternately tense, cutting, and deeply emotional, rapper and singer 070 Shake delivers one of the most distinctive vocal styles in present-day music, fitting seamlessly into pop ballads, rock anthems, dance tracks, and nearly every rap approach. The New Jersey native first gained widespread attention via the stark single "Trust Nobody" (2016), which sparked an enduring connection with Kanye West and his Getting Out Our Dreams imprint. She issued her official label debut, the candid Glitter EP (2018), then delivered Modus Vivendi (2020), a full-length album anchored by the gold-certified single "Guilty Conscience." Shake pressed onward with You Can't Kill Me Because I Don't Exist (2022) and PETRICHOR (2024), projects that diverge widely in both sonic and lyrical dimensions. The latter arrived after the release of its Beach Boys-inspired preview track "Winter Baby/New Jersey Blues."

Raised in North Bergen, New Jersey, 070 Shake (Danielle Balbuena) emerged from the 070 crew and achieved her initial breakthrough in 2016 while still a teenager with "Trust Nobody." First made available early in the year, the song caught the attention of Kanye West's Def Jam-distributed Getting Out Our Dreams label, which reissued it in late September just as Shake prepared for a lengthy October-November run of U.S. dates supporting the 1975. During that period, the Lil Yachty collaboration "Rewind" appeared. Immediately following the tour's end, Def Jam put out the various-artists compilation Direct Deposit, Vol. 1, closing it with "Trust Nobody." Soon after, Shake and fellow 070 members—including Ralphy River, Treee Safari, and Phi—independently released their own collection, The 070 Project: Chapter One. She followed with another independent single, "Stranger," in April 2017.

In 2018, Shake stepped forward on her own with the EP Glitter, spotlighting the spare, emotive ballads "I Laugh When I'm with Friends But Sad When I'm Alone" and "Glitter." Her broader breakthrough came later that year through prominent features on Pusha T's "Santeria" and Kanye West's "Ghost Town" and "Violent Crimes." The next year brought the singles "Nice to Have" and "Morrow," both paving the way for her 2020 debut album Modus Vivendi to reach Billboard's Heatseekers chart. That project also yielded "Guilty Conscience," marking her first RIAA-certified gold single as lead artist.

Shake served as co-producer on her second album, You Can't Kill Me Because I Don't Exist, which surfaced in 2022 and featured the somber "Skin and Bones" alongside the sensual Christine and the Queens collaboration "Body" as key singles. A guest spot on Christine's "True Love" surfaced in 2023, joined by the standalone tracks "Black Dress" and "Natural Habitat" (featuring Ken Carson). In 2024, Shake appeared on West and Ty Dolla $ign's "SKY CITY" before unveiling "Winter Baby/New Jersey Blues" ahead of her third album, PETRICHOR, which arrived in November.
