Initially emerging from the streets of South London as a gang, 67 evolved into a music and media brand that drew in multiple figures from the Brixton Hill district. The collective sought to distance itself from the U.K. grime landscape by cultivating a style closer to Chicago drill, thereby positioning the act among the foremost U.K. drill outfits. At the center stood six MCs—LD, identifiable by his signature mask, together with ASAP, Dimzy, Monkey, SJ, and Liquez—while primary production came from Mazza Munroe, Gotti, LA Beats, and Carns Hill. Notice arrived with the 2014 breakout single “Live Corn,” and the following year the crew reinforced its standing via the singles “Skengman” and “Take It There,” then issued its debut mixtape In Skengs We Trust shortly before SJ ceased appearing on releases, an occurrence the group declined to explain. In 2016 the outfit aimed higher still: the early track “Let’s Lurk,” which included Giggs, prepared the ground for the first charting mixtape, also titled Let’s Lurk, which entered the U.K. charts at number 66. Maintaining a steady flow of output, the crew followed with its third project, the Glorious Twelfth EP, in 2017; that release featured production from Carns Hill and was recorded in part at Red Bull studios in London.
