Biography
Beginning his musical path as a youngster in Australia, country singer Adam Harvey first picked up guitar to master traditional country numbers. He landed his debut performance at age ten, and while still attending school he took the stage with rock covers at a local club, where he was spotted and promptly invited to open shows for Tania Kernaghan on tour. A 1998 duet project with Tanya Self earned him a Golden Guitar Award for Best Vocal Collaboration, which in turn secured his first recording contract. Shortly afterward he traveled to the Grand Old Opry for a showcase appearance, yet the strain of nonstop road life and poor health triggered an onstage collapse from a cardiac ailment that demanded medical care. Although his debut album failed to connect with listeners, Harvey persisted, and his fortunes reversed with a pair of Golden Guitar wins for the 2001 release Workin' Overtime. By 2007 the album I'm Doin' Alright reached the Top 40 on the Australian charts.
