Biography
The McClymonts, an Australian country music trio composed of sisters Brooke, Samantha, and Mollie McClymont, entered the local new-country landscape in June 2006 via their self-titled debut EP. Within months the sisters were supporting Lee Kernaghan on tour and cracked the Australian country singles chart with “Something That My Heart Does.” They soon reached the top spot with “Baby’s Gone Home,” earned a nomination for Best New Talent at the 2007 Golden Guitar Awards, and captured the same honor at that year’s Jayco Country Music Awards. Also in 2007 they cut their first full-length album, Chaos and Bright Lights, alongside several of Nashville’s top producers; both the EP and the album appeared on Universal, and the remainder of the year was spent on the road promoting the releases. The debut album later secured the trio’s first ARIA Award nomination, in the Best Country Album category. In 2009 Brooke became the first sister to marry, wedding country singer Adam Eckersley. Two years later the McClymonts delivered their second album, Wrapped Up Good, whose Australian release coincided with the American arrival of their debut; the sophomore set climbed to number two on the domestic charts and sparked an extensive tour that included a U.S. run during which the group cultivated a loyal following. Once the touring cycle ended, the sisters returned to the studio and completed their third album, Two Worlds Collide, issued in 2012. Later that year Brooke welcomed her first daughter, prompting a brief pause in the trio’s schedule. By 2014 they had finished work on a fourth album, Here’s to You & I. Over the ensuing three years both Samantha and Mollie married, the latter welcoming a son in 2015. The group’s fifth album, Endless, surfaced in 2017 and signaled a clear pivot from their country foundation toward pop textures. It debuted at number one on the Australian country charts—their fourth straight album to achieve that feat—and entered the all-genre chart at number three.
