Country singer Clare Dunn first gained notice by touring as an opener for bro-country headliners Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line, yet the Colorado native already possessed a rugged, self-contained style that surfaced on her bluesy 2013 debut single “Get Out” and the 2014 follow-up “Cowboy Side of You.”

Raised on a family farm in rural Southeast Colorado, Dunn did not begin performing until she enrolled at Nashville’s Belmont University. After earning her degree she obtained a songwriting publishing contract and gradually built a stage career, contributing background vocals—including an appearance on Luke Bryan’s hit “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)”—while co-writing with other Nashville professionals. She later partnered with Ben West to compose “Get Out,” which surfaced in 2013 and quickly became an independent success; together with “Cowboy Side of You,” the track earned her a November 2014 recording agreement with Universal Music Group Nashville. Dunn then recorded a five-track major-label EP that appeared in 2015; its single “Move On” climbed to number 45 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, and “Tuxedo” followed in 2016, reaching number 51 on the same tally.

The first single from Dunn’s next project, “More,” arrived in 2018 and peaked at number 60 on Country Airplay. Over the ensuing years she issued a steady stream of recordings—acoustic and live reworkings alongside fresh material such as the 2019 tracks “Money’s All Gone” and “Gold to Glitter”—that concluded with her 2019 rendition of Elton John’s seasonal standard “Step into Christmas.”

Dunn parted ways with MCA Nashville in March 2020 and promptly joined Big Yellow Dog. “Safe Haven,” her initial release for the new label, surfaced in early May, followed later that month by “Salt and Lime.” Both songs appeared on the June 2020 EP Honestly a personal collection.
